Discoverywall Audit

A trustworthy recording of everything you broadcast, kept for 42 days.

If Ofcom asks what went out on a particular day, you need the audio, and you need to be able to show it is complete and unaltered. Audit does that for you, and tells you when something is wrong while you can still do something about it.

What it does

Records your stream

We listen to your public stream, the same one your audience hears, and save it as hourly files without re-encoding it. What you broadcast is what is kept.

Checks itself every hour

Two minutes past each hour, we check the previous hour is complete, intact and stored. A separate watcher checks the recorder itself every five minutes.

Tells you straight away

Stream down, long silence, a gap, a failed upload: alerts go to the contacts you choose, with the details, and the dashboard shows it.

What you see

One page per stream. Every hour of the last three days is a box: a tick if it is fully recorded, a mark if there is a gap. Gaps are shown honestly and never filled in.

The Audit dashboard: a stream's address and retention period, a grid with one box per hour for the last three days (all ticks except one small gap), and a storage meter showing 38.4 GB of 100 GB used.
Example: a station's dashboard. Hours, gaps and storage at a glance.

Below it, every recorded file, grouped by day, each with a download link for the audio and for its checksum record.

How your recordings are protected

What you need

The public address of your stream (an MP3 or AAC stream from Icecast, Shoutcast, AzuraCast or similar), a station admin to run it, and one or more email addresses for alerts. There is nothing to install and no equipment to buy.

What it costs

Audit is a paid service, because recordings take storage and a recorder to run. A single stream kept for 42 days is roughly 60 GB. We agree a price with each station that reflects the audio you keep, and send an invoice; we are not asking for card details on this site. If your storage grows near the agreed amount, we tell you before anything else changes, and recording never stops without your say-so. Ask for a quote.

Questions people ask

Does Ofcom approve Audit?

No. Ofcom does not approve or endorse products. Audit helps you meet the retention expectation by keeping a complete, checked record, but you remain responsible for your own compliance.

What if my stream drops?

The recorder keeps trying to reconnect, you are alerted, and the gap appears on your dashboard with its start and end. We never pad or splice audio to hide a gap.

Do you record from my studio?

No, from your public stream. That keeps things simple, and means Audit records what your listeners actually received.

Who is responsible for the recordings' content?

You are. Recordings can contain personal information, so your station is the controller of that data and Cross River Radio Ltd processes it for you. See our privacy notice.

Can I stop at any time?

Yes. Tell us, and we stop recording. Existing files are kept until they expire unless you ask us to remove them sooner.
